Summer is officially here and what way to better enjoy it than by taking a trip to Wrigley Field to see the Cubbies. Listed below is the Chicago Cubs home and away games for June 2011. The Chicago Cubs are one of, if not the most popular team in all of Major League Baseball. After finishing first or second in the rough-and-tumble NL Central division for three straight seasons, the Cubs took a step backwards in 2010, finishing with a 75-87 record and finishing a disappointing fifth place in the division. After several offseason moves, expectations are once again high for the Cubs entering the 2011 MLB Season.
The Cubs play their home games in the Chicago, Illinois at historic Wrigley Field. Built in 1914, the Cubs have been playing at “The Friendly Confines” since 1916, making the park the second oldest active ballpark in MLB. New manager Mike Quade takes for over the departed Lou Piniella, and is trying to get the back the team back to the World Series for the first time since 1945. Helping the cause will be youngster Starlin Castro, and mainstays such as Aramis Ramirez, Carlos Marmol, Geovany Soto, and Carlos Zambrano. In what promises to be an exciting and hard-fought season, the Chicago Cubs are hoping their luck changes, and they’re able to finally call themselves World Series champs at the end of the 2011 MLB Season.
After winning the NL Central two years in a row, the Chicago Cubs have failed to make the playoffs each of the past two seasons, finishing a disappointing fifth place in 2010, compiling only 75 wins against 87 losses. Despite the down year, expectation remain high on Chicago’s north side, as they always for the team who hasn’t won a World Series title in 102 years.
Most of the main components from 2010 lineup return to the team, including Aramis Ramirez, Alfonso Soriano, Geovany Soto and Marlon Byrd. Young shortstop Starlin Castro is expected to man the top spot in the batting order, and newly added first baseman Carlos Pena will add some much needed pop to the middle of the lineup. The pitching rotation is headlined by Ryan Dempster, Carlos Zambrano and Matt Garza, and the bullpen is solid with Carlos Marmol and Kerry Wood set to close out games.
Broad Ripple has many different bars, for lots of different people. The area should not just be associated with early 20′s bars, dance clubs. There is a bar in Broad Ripple for just about everyone, every occasion and every mood. Some visitors head to the Ripple early and others prefer the late night feel.
